Biographical

Paul is a Chartered Mediator who specializes in commercial mediation. He was called to the B.C. bar in 1971 and has mediated more than 2,500 disputes since 1993. He works in the areas of professional liability, multi-party construction, negligence, insurance, wills and estates, personal injury, franchising, strata disputes, business, shareholder and family busness. He has worked extensively with Zoom for virtual meetings.

Paul has taught dispute resolution techniques within the legal community and to other professional groups.  He has been an adjunct professor at UBC Law and an instructor in the Professional Legal Training Course. He has taught courses through B.C.'s Continuing Legal Education Society as well as mediation workshops for the B.C. Notaries Society and the Union of B.C. Municipalities. And he has been a guest speaker for the B.C. Insurance Adjusters Association and the ADR subsection of the Canadian Bar Association.  

Paul has a particular interest in family business disputes and conflicts that arise in the construction industry. He has been a guest speaker and a panelist at the Canadian Bar Association, speaking to the subsections of construction law and wills and estates.

He sits on the mediators' panel of the Insurance Dispute Resolution Services of BC and the Civil Roster of Mediate BC. Paul is a member in good standing with the B.C. Mediation Roster and a past director of Mediate B.C.

Paul is a senior negotiation strategist and trainer with ENS International, an Australian-based group, which provides consulting and training in negotiation for multinational corporations. 

After doing a degree in economics at the University of Western Ontario, Paul studied law at the University of British Columbia. He is now a retired member of the B.C. Law Society and makes his home in Vernon, which gives him more time to ski and hike. He does mediation work for clients across the province and in the Yukon.

Rates Information

  • $450-$500 per hour with a 4 hour minimum; daliy rate of $3600
  • cancellation policy is full fee payable if mediation is canceled/postponed within 7 clear busness days
