Biographical
A substantial portion of Bruce's law practice has involved various types of civil litigation, with emphasis on personal injury matters, acting for plaintiffs and defendants. His practice has included motor vehicle, occupiers' liability, products liability, professional negligence, municipal liability, environmental liability, family law, wrongful dismissal, administrative, insolvency, landlord and tenant, insurance and other commercial litigation. For many years, Bruce acted as counsel in liability matters for the Corporation of the City of Kitchener and as Plan Counsel for the Walkerton Compensation Plan, and he served from 2002 through 2005 as Chair of the Liability Group of the Defence Response Committee in respect of "Operation Fog", the tragic September 3, 1999 fog-related motor vehicle pileup near Windsor, Ontario, successfully conducting a trial in that matter in June, 2005. He appears in the peer review publication The Best Lawyers in Canada.
Bruce presently acts as a mediator about ten times per month, on average. He has also acted as counsel at numerous mediations, and has negotiated and concluded out-of-court settlements in many substantial and complex litigation matters involving a wide variety of legal issues. As well, he has acted as an arbitrator on a number of occasions.
He also has significant experience in handling a variety of corporate-commercial matters, including the negotiating and drafting of various types of agreements, franchise work, real estate transactions, general corporate/commercial advice, wills and estates, and transactions involving the purchase and sale of shares or assets. He has successfully mediated a number of complex corporate/commercial disputes.

Education
Bruce attended Victoria College at the University of Toronto and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970. He then attended Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, receiving his Bachelor of Laws Degree (now J.D.) in 1973. He was called to the bar of Ontario in 1975.
Memberships & Affiliations
Bruce is a member of the Waterloo Law Association, Canadian Bar Association (including the ADR Section), the Advocates' Society, and the ADR Institute of Ontario, Inc. He is a partner in Lee LLP. He acts as a mediator and arbitrator with Lee ADR.
Bruce has served as Chair of the Board of Directors of Kitchener Power Corp. and Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Inc. in 2004 and 2005, and of Atria Networks Inc. from 2006 through 2008, and as an advisor to the board of Atria Networks LP until 2010. He was a community representative on the Governance Committee of the board of Grand River Hospital from 2009 to June, 2015.
